Kopierschutz/DRM:
Aktivierung und Freischaltung der Spielsoftware über das Internet per Uplay-Authentifizierung erforderlich. Das Spiel ist danach fest an den Account gebunden. Eine dauerhafte Verbindung zu Uplay während des Spielens ist nicht erforderlich.

"Ghost Recon: Future Soldier" wurde Ende März 2008 auf einer Produktseite von Ubisoft enthüllt. Anfang Februar 2010 folgte die offizielle Ankündigung. Wie der Name "Future Soldier" schon vermuten lässt, setzt dieser Teil den mit "Advanced Warfighter" begonnen Trend zu einer zunehmend futuristischen bzw. fiktiven Inszenierung fort.
Teil 4 ist ein reiner 3rd-Person Shooter mit Deckungssystem, dass optionale Umschalten in die Ego-Perspektive wie beim Vorgänger ist hier nicht mehr möglich.
Bis zu vier Teilnehmer können gemeinsam über Internet und System-Link/LAN eine spezielle Coop-Kampagne durchspielen. Zusätzlich gibt einen Guerilla-Modus (Horde-Mode), in dem das Team zusammen 50 Gegner-Welle abwehren muss.
Die klassische kooperative Terroristenjagd gibt es in diesem Teil nicht mehr.
Lokal können zwei Spieler nur eine abgespeckte Version des Guerilla-Modus im horizontalen Split-Screen zusammen spielen. Die Kampagne kann NICHT im Split-Screen bewältigt werden.
