Sehr blutiges 3D-Actionspiel, das Horror-Fantasy-Elemente mit Wolfenstein-Atmosphäre mischt. Man spielt BloodRayne, eine Halbvampirin, die auf der Seite eines Geheimbundes gegen die Nationalsozialisten kämpft. Die Engine ist eine Eigenentwicklung.
Um das eher schlichte Gameplay etwas aufzubessern, verfügt Rayne über einige erstaunliche Features: Benutzung von zwei Feuerwaffen gleichzeitig, Klingen an den Handgelenken, verschiedene Sichtmodi und den sogenannten "BloodRage" Modus, in der sie mit erhöhter Geschwindigkeit agieren und erhöhten Schaden zufügen kann.
Das Spiel ist aus offensichtlichen Gründen nie in Deutschland erschienen. Sämtliche im Ausland erhältlichen Fassungen sind gewaltmäßig unzensiert; alle PC-Fassungen und die XBox-PAL-Versionen weisen Symbolzensuren auf, die Gamecube- und Playstation-2-Fassungen und die US-XBox-Version sind komplett unzensiert.
