Anstatt mit Shion (dem Hauptcharacter aus "Wonder Boy") zieht man im letzten Teil der "Monster World"-/"Wonder Boy"-Reihe mit seinem weiblichen Konterpart Asha in den Kampf.
Dieser Teil ist textlastiger als die Vorgänger. Japanisch-Unkundige bleiben bei einigen Rätseln und der Story wohl gänzlich auf der Strecke. Glücklicherweise existiert eine sehr gute englische Fan-Übersetzung für Emulatoren (von den Gruppen "DeJap" & "Demiforce").
Am 12.05.2011 gab SEGA auf dem offiziellen Blog bekannt, den Titel im Rahmen der "SEGA Vintage Collection"-Reihe neu auflegen zu wollen... und zwar nach knapp 20 Jahren erstmals in einer offiziellen englischen Lokalisation! Angekündigt wurden explizit Playstation 3 (PSN)- und Wii (Virtual Console)-Versionen, eine Xbox 360-Version folgte ebenfalls als Teil der "Sega Vintage Collection".
