Das Spiel wurde ursprünglich im Jahr 2004 als "Oni" von Koei enthüllt und sollte im Sommer 2006 in Japan für die PS3 auf den Markt kommen. Auf der Tokyo Game Show 2006 zeigte man noch einen Trailer, danach folgten mehrere Verschiebungen, 2008 wurde die Entwicklung dieser Version aufgegeben.
