Wurde 2018 offiziell von Kylotonn Entertainment per Tweed mit einem Gif geteasert. Auf dem Gif erscheint eine große blaue 8.
Es wurde danach von den Entwicklern in den Sozialen Medien mehrmals bestätigt, das sich der 8. Teil in Entwicklung befinde und es im Herbst erste Informationen gäbe. In der Zwischenzeit wurde sämtliche Bezüge und Informationen zum 8. Teil entfernt.
Am 24.01.2019 wurde WRC8 per Tweed mit einer großen "8" offiziell angekündigt. Die Entwicklung des Spieles wurde zugunsten von "V-Rally 4" unterbrochen.
