Wurde am 28.01.2022 von NetherRealm Studios' Senior-Production-Manager Jonathan Andersen per Social Media-Eintrag mit einem Foto geleakt. Auf dem Foto ist sein Arbeitsplatz mit mehreren Bilder zus sehen. Auf dem Bilder sind Artworls und Charaktere von "Mortal Kombat" und "Injustice" zu sehen. Auf einem Bild ist ein DC-Charakter zu sehen und auf diesem Bild steht im Rand darunter "Injustice 3". Aber wenn man auf seinem Bildschirm schaut, der sich hinter dem Bild befindet, kann man die Orderstrukter sehen und dort ist klar und deutlich "MK12" zu sehen.
Das Spiel würde wärend eines Interviews von Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav bestätigt.
