Die Spiele "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater" und "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2" wurden für das Remake zusammengfasst und von "Vicarious Visions" als ein einziges Spiel entwickelt. Da man die bestehenden Spiele nicht so einfach portieren konnte, musste die Spiele von Grund auf neu entwickelt werden. Das Spiel unterscheidet sich sehr stark von den zwei Orginal-Spielen. Vor allem die Level sind zum Vergleich der Orginale ähnlich aufgebaut, wurden aber auch stark abgeändert. Außerdem hat das Remake eine aufwendigen Charaktererstellung erhalten, die im Orginal nicht enthalten war. Es sind mehr Tricks enthalten und die Steuerung wurde für morderne Konsolen und den PC angepasst. Leider sind aus lizenzrechtlichen Gründen nicht alle Songs von den beiden Orignalen enthalten.
