Am 01.04.2005 aus dem ehemaligen KCE Japan West Team entstanden, geleitet von Hideo Kojima
Sitz: Tokyo
- Mitte März 2015 tauchten Gerüchte in der englischsprachigen Fachpresse auf: Laut Insidern sei es zwischen Studioleiter Hideo Kojima und der Geschäftsführung von Konami zu erheblichen Zerwürfnissen gekommen.
- Einige Tage später wurde die Website von Kojima Productions offline genommen und das Studio-Logo auf den Webpräsenzen von Konami und diversen "Metal Gear"-Spielen entfernt. Seitdem leiten alle Internetadresse des Studios auf normale Konami-Webseiten um.
- Kurz darauf hieß es von Seitens Konami, dass Hideo Kojima noch an der Fertigstellung von "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" mitwirken und dann im Dezember 2015 das Unternehmen verlassen werde.
- Am 9. April 2015 hieß es laut Insidern, dass Hideo Kojima von der Konami-Führung entlassen wurde. Diese Behauptung wurde später von Insidern aber wieder zurück gezogen.
- Seit Anfang/Mitte Juli 2015 gilt Kojima Productions inoffiziell als aufgelöst bzw. ruhender Betrieb. Die "Reste" des Studios wurden bei Konami intern in das Number 8 Production Department umgewandelt. Eine offizielle Aussage dazu, wie es um das Entwicklungsstudio bestellt ist, gibt es nicht.
