„The Mercenaries 3D“ ist ein Spin-Off von „Resident Evil 4 & 5“: Genauer gesagt deren Bonus-Spielmodus Mercenaries. Dabei handelt es sich um die klassischen Arena-Shootouts gegen diverse Monster aus der Serie.
Einzige Neuerung: Jeder Charakter kann mit bis zu drei wählbaren Fähigkeiten aufgewertet werden. Jeder dieser Skills kann zudem durch erfolgsabhängig erspielte Punkte auf bis zu drei Stufen ausgebaut werden, was dem eigenen Charakter und/oder dem Team-Partner im Coop-Modus weitere zusätzliche Boni gewährt.
Es stehen acht Charaktere, acht Level sowie diverse Monster aus Teil 4 und 5 auf dem Plan. Bis zu zwei Spieler können dabei gemeinsam auf Monsterhatz gehen (lokal und über Internet, jeweils ein Modul pro Spieler benötigt). So lassen sich auch gemeinsam weitere Charaktere, Level und Inhalte freispielen.
