"Gears of War: Judgment" wurde Anfang Juni 2012 durch eine Titelstory der Zeitschrift Game Informer enthüllt und auf der E3 2012 offiziell angekündigt.
Das Spiel deckt die Vorgeschichte auf, die 15 Jahre vor dem Original "Gears of War" handelt und die Geschehnisse um Damon Baird, Augustus "The Cole Train" Cole und dessen Kilo Squad beleuchtet. Die Handlung setzt kurz nach dem Emergence Day (E-Day) ein, als die Locust Horde beginnt, die Menschen zu überrennen. Marcus Fenix und Dominic Santiago sind nicht mehr involviert.
Erneut kann die Kampagne mit bis zu vier Teilnehmern gemeinsam bewältigt werden. Ein lokaler Split-Screen-Coop ist auch wieder mit an Bord.
Die kooperativen Spielmodi Horde und Beast aus Teil 3 sind nicht mehr enthalten. Sie gehen beide im neuen "Overrun"-Modus auf, ein klassenbasierter Mehrspielermodus für bis zu zehn Teilnehmer (5 Vs. 5).
Die COG-Soldaten sind dabei stets in der Rolle der Verteidiger und haben dazu unterschiedliche Fähigkeiten (Soldat, Schar... [->mehr]
