Technisch minimal verbesserte Portierung in Form der "International"-Version:
- Angepasste Balance / Fixes (insbesondere Reimi Saionji, die hier ein klein wenig abgeschwächt wurde)
- Anpassungen an den Rezepten / Handwerkssystem
- Zusätzliche / neue Beutekisten
- Optisch leicht verbesserte Grafik (primär aufpolierte Lichteffekte)
- Charakter Portraits und Menüs lassen sich optisch zwischen dem westlichen (3D Portraits) und asiatischen (Anime Portraits) Typenschema umstellen
- Neu abgemischte und/oder zusätzliche Musikstücke
- Das Auto-Aim kann per 'Start'-Taste durch eine manuelle Zielaufschaltung ersetzt werden
- Kompakt auf einer Blu-Ray statt drei Discs
Die "International"-Version hat wahlweise englische oder japanische Sprachausgabe. Dazu Untertitel in Deutsch, Englisch, Französisch, Italienisch, Spanisch und Japanisch. |

"Star Ocean: The Last Hope" wurde Ende April 2007 von der japanischen Spielezeitschrift "Famitsu" enthüllt und erstmals auf der Hausmesse 'Square Enix Party 2007' öffentlich vorgestellt.
Der Titel nutzt ein Echtzeit-Kampfsystem, das der Entwickler 'BEAT' nennt: "Battle Enhancement Attribute Type"-System. Dabei werden, ähnlich einem Beat'em-Up, mit Hilfe eines minimalistischen Combo-Systems verschiedene Moves ausgeführt.
Man kann abseits des Protagonisten auch die anderen Charaktere der Gruppe verwenden und so unterschiedliche Spielweisen im Nah- und Fernkampf nutzen.
