Einmalige Aktivierung über Games for Windows Live erforderlich. Im Gegensatz zur Steam-Version ist die internationale Retail-Version dabei problemlos auch in Deutschland aktivierbar.
Das Spiel kann seit dem 17.03.2015 auch bei Steam registriert werden. Hierfür muss einfach der beiliegende GfWL-Key in Steam über "Spiel hinzufügen" -> "Ein Produkt bei Steam aktivieren" eingegeben werden. Mit einer deutschen IP-Adresse ist dies allerdings nicht möglich! |

"Dead Rising 2: Off the Record" ist eine "Was wäre wenn"-Alternativfassung von "Dead Rising 2" mit Frank West (bekannt aus "Dead Rising") statt Chuck Greene als Protagonist sowie einer leicht abgeänderten Story mit neuen Missionen, Zwischensequenzen, Arealen, Gegnern und Waffen. Die aus Teil 1 bekannte Fotografiemechanik ist ebenfalls wieder mit dabei. Es gibt auch technische Updates, wie etwa eine Optimierung der Ladezeiten und verbesserte Netzwerkleistung.
"Off the Record" beinhaltet außerdem den von Fans sehnlich gewünschten Sandbox-Modus. Dieser erlaubt Spielern, Fortune City ohne Zeitbegrenzung frei zu erforschen.
