In "Dead Rising 5" wäre der Spieler erneut in die Rolle von "Dead Rising 2"-Protagonist Chuck Greene geschlüpft und hätte es in einem erneuten Zombie-Ausbruch mit einem Drogenkartell zutun bekommen.
Sollte auf der Unreal Engine 4 basieren.
Die Entwicklung des Spiels wurde wegen einer problembelasteten Entwicklung und der letztendlichen Schließung von Capcom Games Studio Vancouver eingestellt.
