- Für die PlayStation 3 und die anderen Systeme sind in verschiedenen Region (JP, Asien, USA, EU) unterschiedliche Patches erschienen. Dementsprechend sind, je nach Region und Version, alle Fassungen auf einem unterschiedlichen Stand. Das bedeutet auch:
- Unterschiedliche Versionsnummern, trotz eventuell gleicher Inhalte
- Vollständige Inkompatibilität aller Versionen untereinander
- Kein regionsübergreifender Mehrspielermodus
- Unterschiedliche Arten und Mengen von DLCs, je nach Version und Region
- Cross-Play und Cross-Save funktionieren offenbar nur in Japan mit der japanischen Version und einem japanischen PSN Account |

"Sword Art Online: Lost Song" basiert auf dem gleichnamigen Light Novel (eine japanische Form des Kurzromans, die mit Illustrationen im Anime- oder Manga-Stil geschmückt wird) von Reki Kawahara.
Der Name "Sword Art Online" rührt daher, dass sich die Handlung des Romans in wesentlichen Teilen innerhalb der virtuellen Welt eines Online-Rollenspiels (MMORPG) zuträgt. Dabei werden die Protagonisten im Roman über den Anschluss ihres Nervensystems direkt in die virtuelle Realität des Videospiels versetzt, wo sich dann die Kernereignisse abspielen.
Daher gilt es hier einer Verwechslung vorzubeugen: "Lost Song" ist lediglich eine Lizenzumsetzung der Romane in Form eines normalen JRPG. Der Titel ist NICHT dem Genre der Online-Rollenspiele (MMORPG) zuzurechnen, sondern 'simuliert' lediglich deren Gameplay.
