Für die Dauer des Spielens wird eine permanente Internetverbindung zu Ubisofts Online-Dienst Uplay benötigt. Wird diese getrennt, wird das Spiel beendet.
Spielstände werden außerdem nicht mehr auf der Festplatte, sondern auf den Uplay-Servern abgelegt. Das Spiel ist zudem dauerhaft an einen einzigen Ubi.com-Account gebunden, der vor erstmaligem Spielstart zwingend online erstellt werden muss, was einen Gebrauchtkauf bzw. den Verkauf des Spiels quasi obsolet macht. |

"Splinter Cell: Conviction" war ursprünglich für den 16. November 2007 angekündigt, wurde seither allerdings mehrfach verschoben.
Das Spiel basiert erneut auf einer stark modifizierten Unreal Engine 2.5, von Ubisoft Montréal selbst "LEAD" genannt.
