"Resident Evil: Revelations" wurde auf der E3 2010 offiziell angekündigt.
Der Titel tendiert wieder etwas mehr in Richtung Survival Horror und fährt die ausufernden Actionszenen ein wenig zurück. Es finden sich Rätsel und andere Hindernisse im Spielverlauf, die sich nicht mit reiner Waffengewalt überwinden lassen. Ausrüstungsgegenstände und Munition sind zudem nicht mehr im Überfluss vorhanden, wie man es aus Teil 5 kennt.
Hauptcharakter ist diesmal die aus der RE-Historie bekannte Jill Valentine. Aber auch andere bekannte Protagonisten der Reihe, zum Beispiel Chris Redfield, tauchen in der Rahmenhandlung auf.
Obwohl "Revelations" zu Beginn als reines Solo-Abenteuer beworben wurde, gibt es einen kooperativen Zweispielermodus (auf 3DS lokal und online, bei den Heimportierungen in der Regel nur online). Der sogenannte "Raid Mode", den man aber auch allein spielen kann, ist eine Mischung aus dem bekannten "The Mercenaries"-Minispiel und der "Revelations"-Kampagne.
