"Resident Evil: Revelations 2" wurde Anfang September 2014 von Capcom offiziell für Konsolen und PC mit einem Konzept-Teaser angekündigt. Entwickelt wird das Spiel vom Team, das schon am Erstling Hand anlegte.
Die Hauptrolle in "Revelations 2" übernimmt Serien-Veteranin Claire Redfield, an ihrer Seite Moira Burton (die Tochter von Barry Burton). Die Geschehnisse handeln im Zeitraum zwischen "Resident Evil 5" und "6".
Genau wie bei Teil 5 und 6 lassen sich sowohl die Kampagne als auch der aus dem Vorgänger bekannte 'Raid Mode' mit zwei Teilnehmern zusammen im Coop-Modus spielen. Wahlweise lokal im Split-Screen oder über Internet.
Der 'Raid Mode' wird beginnend mit Episode 1 zur Verfügung gestellt und mit jeder weiteren darauf folgend erscheinenden Episode erweitert. Um den Gesamtumfang des 'Raid Mode' spielen zu können, muss man folglich auch im Besitz aller vier Episodenteile sein.
