Masayoshi Yokoyama, Chief Producer of The Yakuza series, hat per Tweed am 25.09.2020 bestätigt, das an einem neuen Yakuza - Spiel gearbeitet wird. Er bittet die Fans auch um Verständnis, dass er noch keine Details zu dem Spiel nennen kann. Die Leute in seinem Team arbeiten sehr hart zu diesem Tag hin, um es allen bekannt geben zu können.

Masayoshi Yokoyama hat in einem offiziellen Presseauschreibung bestätigt das sie an eine Sequel zu 'Yakuza: Like a Dragon 2' arbeiten. Gleichzeitig wire nach 10-jährigen bestehen die Firmenstruktur bei den ' Ryuu ga Gotoku Studio' geändert. Die Struktur wurde deshalb geändert, da 'Toshihiro Nagoshi' das Studio verlassen.
Am 20.Juli 2022 würde wärend eines Rundgangs im Studio von "Ryuu ga Gotoku" erstes Bildmaterial und bewegte Bilder von dem neuen Yakuza-Spiel gezeigt.
