Während die Spielwelt in der genretypischen Iso-Perspektive erkundet wird, wechselt die Ansicht in den Kampfphasen auf die von der "Tales of …"-Reihe gewohnten Seitenansicht.
"Tales of Destiny 2" bietet einen lokalen kooperativen Mehrspielermodus für bis zu vier Teilnehmer (optional mit Multitap). Während Spieler 1 den Hauptcharakter über den gesamten Spielverlaufs steuert, also auf der Weltkarte, in Städten/Geschäften und Dungeons usw., können die restlichen Gruppenmitglieder in den Echtzeitkämpfen von menschlichen Mitspielern gesteuert werden.
